Updates

PhotoTray keeps itself up to date automatically, so most of the time this section is something you never have to think about.

  • It checks in the background and downloads new versions when they are available. The sidebar footer shows Checking for updates…, then Downloading update… N%, then Update ready — Restart to update.
  • Click that footer link, or Restart to update in Settings ▸ Updates, to install. Your finished jobs stay in your history.
  • Check manually any time from Settings ▸ Updates ▸ Check now, or the tray menu's Check for updates…. If you are current you will see "You're on the latest version."
  • Choose your Update channel in Settings: Stable for tested releases, or Beta to receive them earlier with more risk.

Automatic updates apply to installed builds only. In a development build the check reports "Auto-update runs in installed builds only."

If something goes wrong here

  • "Update error" in the Updates hint line. Usually a temporary network problem — press Check now again later.
  • The update downloaded but nothing changed. It installs on restart. Press Restart to update, or quit and relaunch from the tray.
