What's in the download
Everything is in the installer, both AI models included. There is no first-run download, no model gate, and no feature that needs the internet before it will work the first time.
In the installer
- Every converter — HEIC, WebP, AVIF, RAW, PSD, TIFF, SVG, ICO and PDF, with all the decoders bundled
- Resize, compress and crop; EXIF renaming, duplicate scanning and metadata stripping
- The AI upscaler — Real-ESRGAN 2×, checksum-verified before it runs
- Background removal, with its ISNet model inside the engine package — nothing to fetch
- The video fixer, for the phone clips that land in the same folder as the photos
What downloads later (models)
Nothing. Both AI models ship inside the installer, so PhotoTray never fetches a model — the only thing it downloads after install is an update you have agreed to.
Signed & verifiable
EV Authenticode code-signed
Every PhotoTray installer is signed with an Extended Validation Authenticode certificate. Windows SmartScreen and the User Account Control prompt will show PhotoTray as the verified publisher, so you can be sure the file came from us and hasn’t been tampered with in transit.
A published SHA-256 checksum will appear here alongside the first public release, so you can verify your download independently of the signature.
Why it costs nothing
PhotoTray shares a slice of your device’s idle bandwidth when it can, through Massive, our vetted partner, and that is what pays for it — instead of ads, a file limit, or a subscription. You are asked plainly during setup, and one switch in Settings turns it off — the tools pause while it is off, which is the trade rather than a paywall.
