What it does

Everything below runs on your own machine, on as many files as you give it.
Cap the dimensions
Set a maximum width, height or long edge and everything scales to fit it, keeping its aspect ratio. Images already smaller than the cap are left alone rather than upscaled.
Aim at a file size
Give it a target — 500 KB, 2 MB — and PhotoTray finds the quality setting that gets there, per file, rather than making you guess at a percentage.
Lossless optimisation
Strip the wasted bytes out of a PNG without touching a pixel. Same image, smaller file, no quality trade at all.
Crop a batch to one shape
Apply the same crop or aspect ratio across a folder, so a set of images comes out consistent instead of nearly consistent.
Whole folders at once
Point it at a directory and it works through everything inside. No queue, no per-file wait, no upload for any of it.
Set it and forget it
The most useful version of this is a rule: every screenshot you take, resized to 1080p and compressed, automatically, in the folder it lands in.

Lossless PNG optimisation here is sharp's own encoder rather than a dedicated optimiser like oxipng. It is a real reduction, but a specialist tool will squeeze a few percent more out of some files. If that difference matters to you, it is worth knowing before you start.
