Is TIF the same as TIFF?

Yes, identical. The three-letter version is a holdover from MS-DOS extensions, exactly like JPG and JPEG.

What if my TIF has several pages?

This gives you the first page. To keep every page in one file, use TIFF to PDF instead — each page becomes a page in the PDF.

How much smaller will the JPG be?

Often dramatically — twenty to fifty times is common on a scan, because TIF is usually stored uncompressed or losslessly compressed.
